Reach & Read: Good Night, Reindeer

It’s Christmas in July! Good Night, Reindeer by Denise Brennan-Nelson, illustrated by Marco Bucci is a creative play on the classic book featuring a moon and bowl of mush. Good Night, Reindeer takes us all through the North Pole, saying good night to each of Santa’s sleigh team. Brennan-Nelson’s words and Bucci’s imaginative pictures create a story and personality. For example, Comet’s room features stars and planets and shows his love or toys; Dancer’s room has ballet shoes and has her doing pirouettes and Dasher is clearly into fitness based on the exercise equipment and books besides his bed. I will let you guess what Rudolph’s room looks like, or better yet, read the book.

I love Christmas/holiday stories and curate them throughout the year. I will be adding this one to our annual advent activity of opening a ‘new’ book each evening until it is ‘the night before Christmas’.  My little one loves to say good night as part of the eventide ritual, so this book fits right into our repertoire.

I received a copy of this book to review from Sleeping Bear Press but I was not financially compensated, nor required to say something positive, in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my experience and observations while reading this book.
